Frequently Asked Questions

I get Detected invalid components on avatar "Goorm.SeeThroughHair.FakeShadowComponent".

This can happen when exporting during VSF extraction without applying the component. If you are in a non-Modular Avatar environment, right-click the avatar, run SeeThroughHair/Clone And Apply (Destructive), and then export again.

SeeThroughHair is not applied, or shadows overlap unnaturally.

  • Set the hair material Render Queue higher than the face material.
  • Remove the hair material alpha mask and disable options such as Invert.
  • If you use AAO , disable Merge Skinned Mesh in the AAO Trace and Optimize component.
  • If you use shaders such as Motchiri , try excluding it from the face.
  • If the issue still persists, please contact us.

Eyes are visible through the back of the head.

  • This can happen when the hair is a single merged mesh rather than split into front/side/back parts. Add a spherical mesh behind the head to block it, or split the mesh with a mesh-cutting tool and use separated parts.

Project errors keep occurring.

  • First, update VRChat SDK and shaders to the latest versions, then test again.
  • If there was a previous installation, clean up leftover Scripting Define Symbols entries such as VRC_SDK_VRCSDK3 and GOORM_.
  • Finally, disable experimental features and verify again with default settings.

Assets that include animations (such as Miso Shadow) do not work.

Enable the animation option in advanced settings.
